Dance Ensemble Singapore Ltd (DES) has evolved from the immensely successful Yan Choong Lian Dance Troupe in 1993. Since then, it has become a well-established dance company under the leadership of our founder, Mdm Yan Choong Lian. As recognition of the Ensemble's continued efforts in bringing dance to the masses, the Ensemble shifted into its own premises at 60 Waterloo Street in July 1995 under the National Arts Council's Arts Housing Scheme.

The Ensemble has remains true to its fundamental values and beliefs of promoting Chinese culture, developing Chinese arts and nurturing young artistic talents. Since its inception in 1993 under the auspice of the National Arts Council, it has consistently played an active role in local arts scene by producing numerous excellent repertories in multidiscipline arts forms and introducing a creative and versatile dance education.
