Arts Education Programme (AEP)

The AEP is an initiative spearheaded by the National Arts Council (NAC) aimed at providing all students in local MOE schools access to high-quality arts education experiences. In alignment with this endeavor and to bolster Singapore’s cultural identity by promoting local arts and culture, Dance Ensemble Singapore (DES) offers the following programs:

Performance (physical): “Colours of Nanyang” showcases the vibrant Peranakan culture through dances infused with the ‘Nanyang style’. Featuring beaded embroideries, Peranakan porcelains, colorful costumes, and other cultural elements, the performance introduces audiences to the distinctive style of the Straits Chinese. It enables them to appreciate and comprehend Chinese performing arts and the diverse and vibrant heritage that constitutes Singapore’s culture.

Workshop: “Exploring Traditional and Contemporary Chinese Dance” is a two-day workshop that delves into the art form through videos and hands-on lessons. Participants gain insight into both traditional and contemporary Chinese dance styles, aided by props such as traditional Chinese fans.
